It should be a very happy Christmas for Arsenal fans and players this Winter, as Arteta’s side have been arguably not only the best team in England, but also the best team in Europe, as they are top of the Champions League table too.
Arsenal’s season so far…
The Gunners had a solid start to the season, with nothing special, as they picked up some solid wins before their first litmus test of the year against Liverpool.
They lost to Liverpool at Anfield, but after that, Arteta’s side got on a long unbeaten run which lasted between late September and early December, which was what really handed them the top spot in the Premier League.
As Liverpool began to falter, Man City and Arsenal stood out as real contenders, and we look on course to see another title battle between Arteta and Guardiola. Despite losing to Aston Villa at the start of December, Arsenal still look in pole position to charge towards the league title.
Will Arsenal do much in the transfer window?
Another thing that the Christmas period brings, is ramped up transfer rumours, as the Gunners prepare to enter the January window, hoping to strengthen their squad even more.
But, the upshot of it is that the Gunners have as deep a squad as any team in Europe right now, not only that, but some top quality players too.
As things stand, Arsenal don’t look as though they will invest heavily in January unless they make any major sales. They have been linked to Antoine Semenyo, as the likes of Man City, Man United and Liverpool have, but it is unlikely that Arsenal will make any major signings next month.
Even so, everyone at GoonerNews would like to wish Arsenal fans a very happy holidays, and let’s hope that Arteta’s side can keep their momentum, and claim their first Premier League title since the 2003/04 season.
