PL offers for Manchester City player – Barcelona also in mix for January signing

Barcelona have been offered an opportunity to sign Manchester City’s Nathan Aké in the winter market.

That’s according to Sport, and they report intermediaries have proposed the Manchester City player to Barcelona.

Andreas Christensen is set for a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious injury. This allows them to use 80% of the Dane’s salary to sign a new centre-back in January.

They are focusing on the Premier League, where the 30-year-old and Chelsea’s Axel Disasi are their options. The latter has also been offered to Barca, who aren’t ruling out the German market.

Hansi Flick and Barcelona sporting director Deco are clear that they will only sign a new centre-back if he ‘brings quality, creates real competition, and fits the budget’.

The Netherlands international remains an option. He hasn’t been a regular for Manchester City this season as Pep Guardiola has handed him 595 minutes from 13 matches.

Aké can also operate as a left-back, which could be of value to Barcelona. They seem to be looking for a loan transfer in January, while Manchester City would prefer to sell him.

Sport reports Aké has ‘other offers from the Premier League’, and this complicates his arrival at the Camp Nou. There’s no mention of the English clubs that have made offers to the Dutchman.

Oranje manager Ronald Koeman is bothered about his limited role at Manchester City for the World Cup. This could see the player push for a transfer in January.
