Liverpool have been linked with several players to replace Mo Salah, are these the best three available?

The transfer window is just days away from opening and, unlike in the summer, Liverpool might have to get their work done early to avoid losing out.

Not getting Marc Guehi over the line proved costly after losing Giovanni Leoni to injury although talks have taken place with the Crystal Palace skipper and Anfield still looks like his most likely destination.

Is Salah’s time at Liverpool coming to an end?

Semenyo isn’t the only winger who has been linked with Liverpool though as they prepare for life after Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian was back in Arne Slot’s good books after missing out against Inter Milan following his explosive interview with the press after the Reds’ late 3-3 draw against Leeds United. Interest from the Saudi Pro League has never been hotter and it would be a surprise if the 33-year old doesn’t finish his career in the Middle East.

The Liverpool recruitment team have been preparing for life after the Anfield legend, however, is Semenyo the obvious signing that they should make? The key is how much can Hughes squeeze out of any sale of Salah. Slot is insistent that his future is on Merseyside, but the veteran winger won’t want to spend the rest of the season on the bench with results and performances improving in his absence, not due to him being dropped, but due to a change of shape that has made them more solid.

There are few players in Europe who are attracting as much attention as Yan Diomande. The 19-year old RB Leipzig winger has enjoyed an unlikely rise to prominence with his career already seeing him play in three different countries.

A release clause of £87m seems expensive until you consider that he could spend the next 10 years at Liverpool and still be in his 20s. Hughes might be tempted to repeat the summer transfer plan of spending big, so that they don’t need to in the future.

After an incredible and surprising goalscoring drought, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has returned to form amid speculation linking him with a move away from the Bernabeu.

The 25-year old Brazil international will be looking for guarantees that he will play regularly so that he is in his best possible shape for the World Cup with a previous link to Anfield and his profile making him a perfect fit for the Reds on the right-hand side of the attack. According to reports, he could cost as “little” as £75m. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Liverpool brought this sort of fee in from Saudi Arabia for Salah though.

The other big-name option is to spend a similar fee to the one that was spent on Florian Wirtz to persuade Bayern Munich to sell Michael Olise. The former Crystal Palace playmaker is another who has been linked with Liverpool and is on track for a goal or an assist with every appearance that he makes, the sort of numbers that Salah usually gets.

Any of these three players could walk into Salah’s shoes in what is going to be a very interesting January transfer window.
