Karl-Anthony Towns is celebrating Christmas by putting a ring on it!
After the New York Knicks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in a close 126-124 victory at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks star, 30, and Jordyn Woods, 28, announced their engagement on Thursday, Dec. 25. The two have been dating for five years.
"Marry Christmas 🎄❤️💍," the couple captioned their joint Instagram post, which featured shots of Towns getting down on one knee at Overstory, a rooftop bar in New York City.
Woods could be seen wearing a white fuzzy coat and a white dress underneath with her hair styled in a sleek ponytail, as Towns wore a suede coat and black pants.
Although they had known each other for years prior, the couple began dating in 2020 and went Instagram official that September — and have been candid about their relationship since then.
When celebrating their first anniversary on Woods' Instagram series Regular-ish, the couple reflected on the start of their romance — and how it has gotten them through the hardest of times, including the death of Towns' mother Jacqueline in April 2020.
"Me and Jordyn met years ago knowing common people and just became friends," Towns explained. "And ever since then, our relationship grew where we became more than friends. I'm not saying in that way, but just best friends. And then we started having a deeper relationship."

"It just so happened, the COVID came and kind of brought its challenges and it kind of forced us to either pick where our relationship was going to go as friends or something more," Towns said. "And we chose the latter."
Woods echoed similar sentiments. "I think it's kind of cool dating your best friend. We know each other. We know each other's hearts," she said. "We know each other on good days and bad days and we've been through a lot of bad days together."
The pair celebrated their fourth anniversary together in May 2024, and Woods even wrote a song for Towns titled, “Be with You.”
"'Cause all I want to do is be with you, be with you, be with you," she sang in the chorus.
Speaking with PEOPLE in November 2023, Woods opened up about what she thinks is the key to their relationship — and it involves building a strong bond prior to dating.
"Friendship and trust,” the socialite said at the time. “We were really good friends before we started dating, and COVID gave us that free time in our life to really get to know each other, because a lot of people don't really get to know each other and they go into this relationship.”
“So, we've been through a lot together,” she added. “We've seen each other at all different ways, times, phases, so I think we have a very strong foundation.”

Woods, who also noted that “quality time” also helps keep their relationship strong, said that she likes to be there for “as many” of Towns' NBA games as she can.

Also speaking with PEOPLE in 2024, Towns shared that one of the things Woods does that makes their relationship so special is immersing herself in the basketball world.
"It means a lot," she said of her commitment, sharing that her support “on a daily basis” — whether in correlation to his basketball career or not — “is truly special to me.”
He added: “You know, with my mom and my sister, I’ve seen the impact that good women have on men’s lives, and I’m just blessed that I saw that firsthand before I got with Jordyn so that I could learn to appreciate her.”
