arsenal fcAlthough Arsenal would appear well-stocked in the left-back area – Riccardo Califiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Piero Hincapie have played there this season – they are now being linked with another one.
Davide Bartesaghi has benefitted from an injury crisis with his current club side AC Milan to become a first-team regular at the Serie A club, and has turned in a string of impressive performances.
His progress has not gone unnoticed, and several clubs across Europe have begun to monitor hihs situation, Arsenal among them. Although he can operate across the back-line, he is primarily regarded as a left-back.
And whilst there is no immediate need for him, their recruitment strategy is focussed on long-term planning and competition for places.
Already AC Milan are fearing the worst, knowing that an approach from a Premier League club could be difficult for Bartesaghi to resist, knowing that he could earn more in England than he is likely to be offered in Italy.
