Lakers key forward Jarred Vanderbilt mentioned that the team's struggles were evident even when they were winning earlier in the season, but the losses have further exposed their flaws.
Los Angeles Lakers suffered their third straight defeat on Christmas Day, falling to the Houston Rockets at home, 96–119.
After the game, Lakers head coach JJ Redick had some strong words of criticism for his players, calling the Lakers a "terrible basketball team" and also noting that the upcoming practice would be "uncomfortable" for some players, signaling that there are many problems that weren’t apparent during the team's strong start this season.
Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt, after a disappointing loss on Christmas Day, also mentioned the Lakers' struggles this season, saying they were evident even when the team was winning earlier, but the losses have further exposed their flaws:
"It's been the same pretty much all year in how we lose games: transition defense, rebounding, and stuff like that—it’s been a trend all year. Obviously, when you're winning, it shadows that. It’s just a little bit more highlighted now," Vanderbilt said postgame via Khobi Price.
With the loss on Christmas, the Lakers fell to a 19–10 record, currently good for fourth place in the Western Conference.
