Yankuba Minteh’s agent on potential €80m Brighton exit after Liverpool claims

Brighton & Hove Albion signed Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United in July 2024. The winger scored seven goals and contributed four assists from 37 games in his first season at The Amex.

The Gambia international’s statistics aren’t that impressive this season. He has one goal and four assists from 18 matches for Brighton.

Despite this, he’s managed to attract interest from top teams, with his national manager even mentioning Liverpool. Minteh’s agent Bakary Bojang has hyped up transfer talk during an interview with Footy-Africa.

The representative is optimistic of a big future move for his client. However, he wants to avoid the 21-year-old getting distracted.

“Yes, I am very optimistic about that. I know bigger clubs are interested and monitoring his development. I just need Yankuba to keep focus and deliver; everything will follow,” he said.

Bojang hasn’t revealed the details of the top clubs that have shown interest in Minteh.

Last month, Mali manager Tom Saintfiet backed the Brighton player to join Liverpool. He managed the attacker while he was in charge of Gambia.

The player has a contract until 2029 and Transfermarkt currently values him at €40m.

Footy-Africa points out a reported valuation of €80m for Minteh. The agent now refuses to discuss the price. He insists it’ll be decided by Brighton and his client’s potential buyer.

“From my perspective, it’s always difficult to determine a player’s market value before a transfer actually happens,” Bojang explained.

“A player’s value is ultimately defined by what clubs are willing to pay. That said, it’s very positive to see that his statistical value is rising. This indicates strong numbers and consistent performances at a high level.”

The representative believes Brighton are likely to value him at €80m.

“Well, it’s difficult for me to say. Like I said, the value will be determined by what clubs are willing to pay. But I believe Brighton value him that high. So, if a club will buy him, they pay that amount or even more,” he added.
