Here are some of the players Celtic could sign in the upcoming January transfer window.
Celtic could be busy in the January transfer window as Wilfried Nancy looks to mould this Hoops squad in his image.
The former Columbus Crew head coach has installed his three at the back system instantly, which drew criticism as the club lost four games in a row before defeating Aberdeen. It displayed how much recruitment will need done as they look to close down Hearts in the Premiership title race.

GK - Illan Meslier
Kasper Schmeichel’s performances have been criticised this term and it has some fans looking at a replacement. TeamTalk claim ‘Leeds United have held talks with a number of clubs about a January deal for Illan Meslier’ and ‘ they remain keen on signing him as a possible option for next summer and as a long-term replacement for Danish veteran Kasper Schmeichel.’ That time may be fast-tracked under new management and while he’s fallen down the Leeds United pecking order, is still only 25 and played 215 times for the Elland Road team.
RWB - Colby Donovan
Anthony Ralston is the experienced option here but youngster Donovan hasn’t really put a foot wrong when handed a chance this term. Deserves extended game time.
RCB - Auston Trusty
American international has been one of the players thrust into the back three and some continuity wouldn’t go amiss.
CB - Axel Disasi
Chelsea have huge numbers on their books and according to 67 Hail Hail, ‘Celtic have been made aware of three Chelsea players that could be available’, one of which is Disasi. Earned a move from Monaco for an eye-watering £38.5 million in 2023 and spent time at Aston Villa this year, now on the Stamford Bridge fringes. Move would come late in the window and almost definitely a loan but this type of quality will be hard for Celtic to come by in the winter window.
LCB -Kieran Tierney
Injuries have taken away a touch of explosiveness. Tierney, however, would still have licence to get forward in a role he’s played for Scotland.
LWB - Marcelo Sarrachi
Injuries have hampered him a bit but Uruguayan international has shown he can be a bundle of energy going forward and perhaps more naturally suited to this type of role than a Yang or Sebastian Tounekti.
CM - Callum McGregor
Talk of Saudi Araba would be calamitous for Celtic were the skipper to move on. Should he stay, an obvious starter.
CM - David Watson
Paramount to this system is legs in the midfield two and Kilmarnock’s Watson would certainly give you that. Despite Killie’s struggles, he has shown in the last 18 months to be one of the nation’s emerging midfield options and would add to Celtic’s homegrown quota. Proven Premiership quality and room to develop, with the energy needed for this role.
RAM - Jocelin Ta Bi
Ivory Coast youngster has been linked this week with the Hoops. Right-sided winger has shone in Israel and signed for Maccabi Netanya amid form at Beitar Tubruk, now impressing in Hapoel Petah Tikva colours. More of a winger than a number 10 but same can be said for our left-sided option and he’s looked dangerous in this system. Same possible applies here.
ST - Evan Ferguson
Brighton striker had a tough time out on loan at Roma but did score twice versus Celtic in the Europa League. Has been claimed as one the Hoops have been monitoring ahead of January as he looks to unlock goalscoring prowess he originally displayed with the Seagulls.
He wanted away in the summer but it appears Nancy is keen to have the Japanese international in his ranks. Can go through the middle but his pace and other key assets are best utilised out wide.
