Man City manager Pep Guardiola says “everything” is possible during the January transfer window.
Rather than play down the prospect of any new arrivals, Guardiola was more than willing to say that the club will be open for business:
“Everything can happen, Last season, when we started it I never could’ve expected going into the transfer window with four or five players because we had [so many] players injured.”

Guardiola was referring to the £190m that the Cityzens shelled out on the likes of Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis, Abdukodir Khusanov and Nico Gonzalez last January.
While the club is not expected to be as busy this time around, it seems that signings are on the agenda.
Semenyo looks set to make the switch to the Etihad
Everything now points towards Antoine Semenyo joining Man City at the beginning of next month, so Guardiola’s remarks are clearly in reference to such a move going ahead.
The Ghanaian’s £65m release clause is active for the first 10 days in January, but the deal is likely to be wrapped up much sooner, as long as there are no last-minute hitches.
It does appear as if Guardiola’s team have seen off competition from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham to secure Semenyo’s signature.
Will Man City strengthen any other positions?
A lot hinges on the futures of players like Nathan Ake, Kalvin Phillips and even Omar Marmoush. If the club does sanction departures, there will be gaps to fill in the squad.
While Guardiola has repeatedly emphasised that he prefers to work with a small group of players, he is still cognisant of what happened last season when his team failed to cope with an injury crisis.
