Manchester City midfielder Rodri could make his return to the team against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The Spain international had his previous campaign ruined by an anterior cruciate ligament injury. After making his return at the end of last season, the 29-year-old has suffered with hamstring issues this term that have again limited his involvement.
Rodri has only made four Premier League starts and has been sidelined since the 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth on November 2.
Speaking ahead of the trip to the City Ground, Guardiola shared a positive update on the player's condition.
"Rodri is much, much better. Available or not, we'll decide today," he said in a pre-match interview with club media in lieu of the usual press conference.

The news was less positive on Jeremy Doku and John Stones. "Doku and John still aren't there, but soon they'll be back," said the City boss.
City confirmed the players returned to training at the City Football Academy on Christmas evening to prepare for the Forest fixture.
