Jaylen Brown continues to set the tone for the Boston Celtics, and head coach Joe Mazzulla made it clear why after Friday's win over the Indiana Pacers.

With Boston dealing with major roster changes and injuries, Mazzulla pointed to Brown's decision-making and feel for the game as the key to his strong play.
Boston rolled past Indiana 140-122, and Brown once again led the way with 30 points. It was his eighth straight game with at least 30, but Mazzulla was more focused on how Brown is scoring rather than how much he is scoring.
“He picks and chooses his spots really well,” Mazzulla said in his postgame presser, via Bobby Krivitsky of Sports Illustrated. “I think he’s finding a great balance of knowing when to score within the offense versus letting the guys kind of do their thing. He spends a ton of time on reading the game and the execution of the game.”
Mazzulla highlighted Browns patience and trust in the system. Instead of forcing shots, Brown is reading defenses, attacking mismatches, and letting plays develop. That approach has helped keep the Celtics offense flowing even without several key veterans.
Through 28 games this season, Brown averages 29.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 50.2% from the field and 36.9% from three.
Despite losing Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford in the offseason and missing Jayson Tatum, Boston sits third in the East with a 19-11 record.
