Arsenal vs Brighton Premier League team news from the Emirates Stadium
Brighton's Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma was a notable absentee from the matchday squad to face Arsenal at the Emirates.
Mitoma, 28, has struggled with an ankle injury this season and missed nine matches throughout October, November and December.
He returned and made two appearances from the bench at Liverpool and then also in the 0-0 draw against Sunderland last week.
Mitoma was expected to be pushing to start against Arsenal at the Emirates but an illness has ruled him out of facing the league leaders.
Fellow winger Yankuba Minteh is also away from the starting XI but the Gambian flyer is on the bench and likely to be used as an impact substitute.
Yankuba Minteh on the bench as well
Minteh has been a bit below his best of late and Bryan Gruda is expected to take his place on the right flank.
Diego Gomez looks most likely to play left midfield with Georginio the furthest forward.
Jack Hinshelwood and Yasin Ayaro provide the legs in midfield, with what looks like a back five behind the them.
Ferdi Kadioglu, Diego Coppola, Lewis Dunk, Jan Paul van Hecke and Maxim De Cuyper will be tasked with keeping the Gunners at bay.
Confirmed starting XI
Brighton XI: Verbruggen, Dunk, van Hecke, Coppola, Hinshelwood, Gruda, Ayari, De Cuyper, Gomez, Kadioglu, Rutter. Subs: Steele, Minteh, Watson, Welbeck, Kostoulas, Milner, Boscagli, Wiefer, Veltman
