“I've also been strongly advised not to expect the Lakers to emerge as a potential landing spot for Paul,” Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reports.

Despite the 40-year-old point guard’s desire to play close to his Los Angeles-based family, the Lakers are reportedly not considering him as an in-season addition.

Speculation linking Paul to the purple and gold has been circulating for years, but the team has focused on targeting players under 30 this season to address roster needs.

The recent injury to Austin Reaves, who will miss at least four weeks, has added pressure to the Lakers’ backcourt, yet the franchise is not planning to pursue Paul.

Other potential destinations in the Western Conference, like the Houston Rockets, also appear unlikely.

The Rockets, who could use a backcourt boost following Fred VanVleet’s season-ending knee injury in September, are limited financially and are not expected to make roster changes until closer to the end of January.

As Chris Paul evaluates his final NBA season, league insiders say a decision on his next stop may not come until the February 5 trade deadline.
