Luka Doncic sends message to injured Austin Reaves

Luka Doncic offered support and advice to Austin Reaves after the Los Angeles Lakers guard suffered a grade 2 calf strain that will sideline him for at least a month.

Los Angeles Lakers are facing a major setback with star guard Austin Reaves. The 27-year-old is dealing with a calf injury that will sideline him for at least a month.

The injury occurred Thursday night during the Lakers’ matchup against the Houston Rockets on the Christmas Day slate.

Following the game, Luka Doncic spoke to reporters about Reaves’ condition. “I talked to him. He just said he didn’t know. He’ll have an MRI tomorrow,” Doncic said per Silver Screen and Roll. “I just said, ‘If you need something to help, I know what it is to go through calf injury.’ It’s not fun at all. Just be there to support him. Calf (injuries) are dangerous, so just take your time.”

The timing is particularly difficult for both Reaves and the Lakers. Reaves has been having an All-Star-caliber season, averaging 26.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field and 36 percent from three in 23 games.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have been struggling, dropping their third consecutive game after Thursday’s blowout loss to the Rockets.

Despite the recent skid, LA still sits fourth in the Western Conference with a 19-10 record.
