The Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards, did everything they could on Christmas Day to try to stop Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
Despitea strong fight, Edwards and the Timberwolves fell just short, with the franchise star finding himself ejected late in the game as Jokic finished as the first player in league history to have a 55-15-15 triple-double, while also scoring the most points (18) in a single overtime period.
However, regarding Edwards, the star is officially listed as questionable for Minnesota’s upcoming game against the Brooklyn Nets, reportedly due to right shoulder soreness, according to the team.

Though he’s already missed a few games so far this season for the 20-11 Timberwolves, Edwards is putting up a career-high 29.4 points, along with 5.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists on 49.4% shooting.
Anthony Edwards Injury Update
Edwards dropped a season-high 44 points before receiving his second technical foul for trying to slap the ball from Jokic’s hands late in their Christmas Day clash, where hewas then ejected. Still, dropping close to 50 on 56% from the field, along with six rebounds, three assists, and three steals, has become a more common occurrence for the evolving Edwards this season.
He is shooting above 40% from three-point range for the first time in his career, and while his total shot attempts, minutes, and assists are slightly down from those in years past, Edwards continues to make his mark as one of the best shooting guards in the league.
But for now, Edwards is listed as questionable with right shoulder soreness for the team’s upcoming contest against the Nets.The Timberwolves haven’t yet released a full update on the star’s health, so for now, the detailson the injury, as well asdetails on his status,are still unknown.
The 24-year-old did miss a few games earlier in December with a foot injury, so while that isn’t the issue now, the fact that he’s dealing with a new health problem could raise some concerns in Minnesota.However, Edwards has been extremely healthythrough the first fiveprevious seasons of his career,either playing 72 or 79 regular-season games per year from 2019 to 2025.

Timberwolves Injury Report
Along with Edwards, the Timberwolves also have Mike Conley, Terrance Shannon Jr., and Rob Dillingham listed on their injury report.
For Conley, he is listed as questionable for the game against Brooklyn due to rest, as at age 38, the point guard is slowly taking a backseat as he looks to close out his career sometime in the near future. In his 18th season, Conley has played in 27 games so far, putting up 5.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists on just 35.7% shooting in a mainly off-the-bench role.
Shannon is officially out for the Nets game with a foot injury. It’s the first reported time he’s dealt with a foot injury this season, so, while there is also limited information on the extent of the injury, it’s hard to say if it will cause him to miss an extended period. In his second season, the 25-year-old is averaging 4.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 12.8 minutes per game, highlighting a slightly underwhelming start to his NBA career so far.
Dillingham is also questionable with an illness. Like Shannon, he hasn’t exactly been as advertised through the first two seasons of his career, playing a bit less and putting up even fewer numbers than Shannon.
The injuries, and lack of impact from all three, highlight the major point guard issue facing the Timberwolves right now. Though they had reported interest in Chris Paul, Minnesota doesn’t have a strong playmaker to go alongside Edwards, Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and the rest of their offensive options, an issue that could only grow as the season goes along.
