Tottenham are set to arm boss Thomas Frank with a £150m war chest to spend in the January transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur’s forwards have struggled to make a consistent impact under Thomas Frank this season.
Dominic Solanke has barely featured for Spurs this season. He is still working his way back from an ankle surgery that he underwent at the start of October. Prior to that, the England international was limited to only two substitute appearances.
Deadline day signing Randal Kolo Muani has yet to open his Premier League account, leaving Richarlison to shoulder the entire burden of scoring goals for the Lilywhites. The Brazilian has stepped up in recent weeks, scoring five goals in the last eight matches. He is the club’s top scorer with eight goals in all competitions, but given his injury record and chronic inconsistency, Thomas Frank cannot take a risk of relying on Richarlison for the entire season.
Several glaring issues within the squad must be addressed in January. The striker position is one of those, with FC Porto’s Samu Aghehowa, emerging as a target. It is worth noting that he almost joined Chelsea in 2024.

Samu Aghehowa has established himself as one of the dangerous young strikers in Europe, bagging 18 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions for FC Porto this season thus far. The Spanish international’s goalscoring exploits have caught the attention of Tottenham, who are in dire need of goals.
According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Tottenham have set aside a £150m “war chest” for Thomas Frank as he prepares to bolster his struggling squad. Aghehowa is an option to strengthen the Lilywhites’ strike force and is likely to cost at least £50m.
The 21-year-old has a €100m release clause in his current contract, but Porto are willing to be flexible and ask at least £50m for his services when the transfer window reopens on January 1. This gives the north London club newfound belief, who have £150m to spend to reinforce the squad for the second half of the season.
Frank leading this project in N17 could help Tottenham lure Aghehowa to White Hart Lane. They are a team in transition, and the Spanish talent could end up becoming the face of the project and help Spurs reach new heights as they look to build on last season’s Europa League success.
While languishing 14th in the table, the Lilywhites are only five points behind sixth-place Sunderland and this means they still have an opportunity to secure European qualification this season if they make the right acquisitions during the mid-season trading period. And Aghehowa fits that criteria perfectly.
