Former Bucks champion just joined LeBron James and Steph Curry in historic 37-year-old feat

Former Bucks center Brook Lopez has not had a good first year with the Clippers. Anyone watching last night’s game in Portland wouldn’t know it, as Lopez poured in 31 points on nine made threes. It was enough to put him in elite company for 37-year-olds to sink at least that many triples in game.

Brook Lopez became the third player to make 9 or more 3-pointers in a game after turning 37 years old tonight!

Lopez adds to the legend of Splash Mountain, reaches rarefied air in NBA archives

The outing was easily a season-best for Lopez; his previous high was 15 points in the opener versus Utah. Overall, the man known as Splash Mountain in Milwaukee has averaged just 7.1 points in 16 minutes a night. Both figures are roughly half of his 2024-25 production.

Beyond the arc, however, Lopez hasn’t lost a step. Through 23 games played, his 40.9 3-point percentage would be a career-high. He is still averaging a block per game despite his stark minutes reduction.

His performance against the Trail Blazers was a masterpiece: 9-for-14 from distance plus two blocks and five rebounds. Clippers coach Ty Lue has given more burn of late; Lopez has logged 25-plus minutes in each of his last three games. Before that, he hadn’t played 20 minutes all season.

For Lopez, joining James and Curry is just one more honor to add to the list. During seven Bucks seasons, he won a ring, was runner-up for 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, and twice made All-Defense – including All-Defense First Team in ’23.

In ’24-25, he also became the first player in NBA history with 1,000 made threes and 2,000 blocks. His lifetime tallies are up to 1,113 and 2,083, respectively. All the more impressive, Lopez did not even start shooting threes until 2016-17, the year before he joined the Bucks and his ninth in the league.
