Martin Odegaard hails ‘unbelievable performance’ from a selfless teammate

Club captain Martin Odegaard offered his thoughts on a 2-1 win for **Arsenal**against Brighton.

The Gunners held the upper hand at the Emirates Stadium in the first hour of action, and they could have produced a more comfortable afternoon with greater efficiency in the final third. However, they executed the job required, and it was Odegaard who got the party started with a goal from distance.

The Norwegian is known for his diligence in the press and the ability to conduct the game in the second phase rather than being a cold-blooded killer in and around the box. But the best of the player has involved more output in the final third, and he was happy to get his first goal of the campaign.

Odegaard also had praise for a fellow midfielder, who leads by example time and again on the field. In the absence of Jurrien Timber, the hosts needed someone to fill in the role of a right back. Declan Rice stepped into the position of responsibility, exemplifying the selflessness that the side demands.

"I've been waiting for that one and working really hard to improve on the finishing.

*“I like to be in those areas, and Bukayo Saka, we know each other really well, he finds me there, and there was a little angle in the corner there, so it was a good goal. It was brilliant. As I said, we've been working really hard to get it, and it was there, so we're really pleased.*

*"An unbelievable performance from him [**Declan Rice*].

“To play right back, probably the first time in his life, and then do it the way he did it today was unbelievable, so a really, really good performance from him. That's just our team, everyone is ready to do whatever it takes for the team and that was another good example of that."
