Mohamed Salah has received fresh support in his dispute with Jamie Carragher, with Emmanuel Adebayor now criticising the pundit. Whilst the Liverpool forward is presently representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations - with his nation progressing to the knockout rounds - his confrontation with the former Reds centre-back from earlier this month remains front-page news.

Carragher launched a scathing attack on the 33-year-old following his remarks after Liverpool's 3-3 stalemate with Leeds, where Salah suggested the club were "throwing him under the bus".

The Sky Sports analyst branded Salah's post-match outburst as a "disgrace" and suggested the Egyptian was orchestrating a scheme to bring about Arne Slot's dismissal. Despite apparent reconciliation between Salah and Slot, speculation persists regarding the winger potentially departing Anfield during the January transfer window.

We examine Salah's newest ally in his row with Carragher and the alleged recent statements from his representative regarding a potential winter departure.

Carragher faces wrath

Carragher maintained his fierce criticism of Salah's behaviour following the Leeds stalemate, delivering an eight-minute condemnation of the Reds icon on Monday Night Football. He declared at the time: "I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game.

"Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I do not think it was. Whenever Salah stops in the mixed zone, which he's done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it's choreographed between him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position."

Whilst the feud between Salah and Carragher has since cooled, Adebayor ensured he landed a few blows aimed at the former defender. The ex-Arsenal and Manchester City forward branded the pundit's remarks "disrespectful" and targeted Carragher's playing career, particularly his honours list.

"You know, some players were lucky enough to be born in certain areas," Adebayor said. "Carragher, I think, was lucky enough to be born in Liverpool - that's why he can proclaim, 'I won something.' Mo Salah won the league, Mo Salah won the Champions League with them.

"Mo Salah's been the top scorer for them for I don't know how many years. I think he's even entering [the discussion about] the best ever player to play in the Premier League. That is huge. And for Carragher to come in and disrespect that person on air, that for me is just incredible."

Salah's agent 'shuts down move'

Whenever discussions turn to Salah's future, supporters typically hear whispers about his long-standing representative Ramy Abbas making moves behind the scenes. Whilst no firm developments have surfaced regarding a potential departure from Anfield, Turkish outlets have claimed he has firmly rejected any approach from Fenerbahce.

According to reports, representatives from the Super Lig heavyweights met with Abbas earlier this week to discuss a possible move to Turkey, given Salah's increasing dissatisfaction with his role at Liverpool.

However, any prospect of such a transfer materialising was dismissed by Abbas, who is said to have informed Fenerbahce officials that if Salah were to depart Liverpool, his only destination would be Saudi Arabia.
