Aston Villa are five points above Liverpool in the Premier League table.
Unai Emery has insisted that Aston Villa are not focused on the Premier League title race - and instead their main aim is finishing above Liverpool.
Villa came from behind to earn a 2-1 win over Chelsea and record an 11th successive victory in all competitions. Emery has the Birmingham outfit firing on all cylinders and they are just three points behind leaders Arsenal. Villa travel to the Gunners on Wednesday and have the chance to move level on points, while second-placed Manchester City are not in action until the following day.
Villa are currently seven points about champions Liverpool, who delivered a 2-1 triumph over Wolves. While there are some who believe that Villa are bang in the battle to be crowned conquerors of England, Emery is adamant that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United - all directly below his outfit - are their chief rivals.
Emery said: "Not really. I'm not feeling it. I'm feeling that we are competing very well. We are third in the league with two teams, Manchester City and Arsenal, fantastic performances they are getting.
"We have to play 38 matches. We are today on 18. There are 20 matches to play, teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United...we must compete against them and try to be more or less consistent like we are now. But even being consistent and performing like we are now, there are Arsenal and Manchester City in front of us."
