Moises Caicedo was a machine for Chelsea in their defeat to Aston Villa last night, particularly in the first 60 minutes, dominating the middle of the field single-handedly. But even he couldn’t stop the game turning around and ending in defeat for the Blues.

“We need to keep learning from this because we were there, up, but in the Premier League you need to be consistent to stay up,” Caicedo said in quotes picked up on the club’s official website.
“So we need to keep learning. This is not just a loss, it’s a chance to learn, and for sure we’re going to come back even stronger.
“It’s important for us, for the fans, to end the year in a good way. So we’re just going to learn from this and focus on the next game because we want to give everything.”
We’ll tell you one thing which is consistent about this Chelsea team – the way they blame a lack of consistency for their struggles.
Instead of talking about consistency, we’d like to see some moves made to help them actually achieve that consistency. That would start with adding some experienced players to the squad, and then picking a consistent team as much as possible.
Tuesday night does give us a chance to make amends – but what use is winning then if we lose again at the weekend?
In other news…
Caicedo also blamed the defeat on a lack of concentration from his team – we saw some other things which went wrong for the Blues.
After the game, Enzo Maresca explained that he had taken off Marc Cucurella because the full back had felt something in his hamstring. Given our next game is on Tuesday night, it looks almost certain the Spaniard will miss that.
