Hurzeler reveals his demand for West Ham after Albion test Gunners

But he will look for more from his side at the London Stadium.

Albion have taken just two points from the last possible 15 – and one of them was grabbed late on against the Hammers at the Amex.

The sides meet again tomorrow with the Seagulls impatient for a win and West Ham stranded in the bottom three, five points off 17th place, after their 1-0 defeat by Fulham on Saturday.

Asked whether his side can take anything from a spirited last half-hour in their 2-1 defeat at Arsenal, Albion boss Hurzeler told The Argus: “We have to.

“But, in the end, it's not only about competing. You have to get points out of these games, especially when you have a second-half performance like this.

“You need to make sure that you get something out of the game, and then we have to do it better.

“But overall, yes, there's some positives to take away.”

Hurzeler will demand more belief in the gameplan after questioning that aspect in a toothless first half at the Emirates.

He said: “I wouldn't use mentality, but it's definitely like we didn't have belief in the pressing.

“We didn't have the courage to press like we wanted to press, we didn't seem to look like a team who has quality, and I think that's the main thing.

“We have quality. We proved that in this season so far.

“We can compete with every team in the league and we proved that another time in the second half, and that's the thing we have to take away.”

Kaoru Mitoma missed the Arsenal game through illness and Yankuba Minteh was on the bench, although his second-half performance suggest he will start against the Hammers.

Alvion continue to tread very carefully with Danny Welbeck, who had a back problem and only went on for the closing stages at the Emirates.
