The Golden State Warriors have been hit with a Seth Curry sciatica injury update, the same issue that plagued LeBron James and Al Horford.
As a whole, the Golden State Warriors are old, and though Stephen Curry continues to prove himself as one of the best players of a generation, the injuries are catching up to the 16-15 Bay Area team.
The Warriors were already without Al Horford for a decent stretch, as the key offseason addition missed time with sciatica, the same nerve injury that sidelined LeBron James for the first month of the season for the Los Angeles Lakers.
But now, Golden State has another player out with sciatica, asit was recently reported by Anthony Slater ofESPN that another new addition, Seth Curry,is set to miss timewith sciatic nerve irritation. He also gave an update on the recently returnedDe’Anthony Melton and Horford.

The Warriors are sitting De’Anthony Melton on the front side of their Toronto, Brooklyn back-to-back this afternoon. Al Horford is playing against the Raptors, which would rule him out vs Nets. Seth Curry remains out with what team is now listing as sciatic nerve irritation.
“The Warriors are sittingDe’Anthony Melton on the front side of their Toronto, Brooklyn back-to-back this afternoon. Al Horford is playing against the Raptors, which would rule him out vs Nets,” the insider wrote in a post on X. “Seth Curry remains out with what team is now listing as sciatic nerve irritation.”
Curry signed with the team over the summer butwas waived, then re-signeda bit into the season. So far this year, the younger brother of the franchise star has only played in two games for the Warriorsthis season, putting up averages of seven points, two rebounds, and 1.5 assists in the process.
Seth Curry Injury Update: Out With Sciatica
Though Curry has only been on the roster for about a month,he’s missed most of theteam’s games during that spanwithtoe, thigh, and glute injuries. While he was healthy for a few contests earlier in December, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr decided not to play him on multiple occasions, with his last in-game action coming on December 4th in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
But now, it is fair to say that Curry will miss even more time with the same injury that sidelined both his teammate in Horford, and theleague’s all-time leading scorer in James.
For Horford, he sat out on two different occasions, both of which saw him on the bench for multiple weeks as he recovered from the nerve injury.James missed the first month of the season for the Lakers, andhe’s sat out a few other games as theytry take a cautious approach in his 23rd season.

LeBron James says this is not the first time he’s dealt with sciatica. He also had it during the offseason two years ago. “If you ain’t never had it … I pray you never get it”
Despite Curry coming in with the expectation that hewon’t be a major contributor on a nightly basis, the past examples of players dealing with sciatica paint a dark picture of his return. The 35-year-old has already missed most of the season so far with numerous other injuries, and withSlater’s latest update on his sciatica, seeing him back on the court sometime soondoesn’t seem likely.
Along with being the franchisestar’s brother, Curry arrived to help with theWarriors’ shooting woes to begin the season. But for now,he’ll be on the bench with sciatica, the nerve injury that is starting to take over theNBA’s premier West Coast teams.
Warriors Injury Report
Along with Curry, theWarriors’ injury report also features Brandin Podziemski, new addition LJ Cryer, and the recently recovered Melton, who returned earlier in the month from an ACL injury suffered last season.
While Curry hasbeen ruled out of GoldenState’s upcoming game against the Toronto Raptors, the same is true for Melton, as he slowly gets back into form after missing nearly an entire season. He is out for rest, ashe’ll suit up in the second night of their back-to-back against the Brooklyn Nets.
The opposite is true for Horford, as he came into this season with the expectation that hewouldn’t play in back-to-backs for the rest of his career. He’ll suit up against Toronto, but sit out versus Brooklyn. After playing in just two games in December with sciatica in his back, the big man played limited minutes in his return to action in theWarriors’ Christmas Day win over the Dallas Mavericks.
They’ll likely take a cautious approach with him as well, as thoughhe’s already been limited this season, his defensive and shooting abilities will be much needed should Golden State make a playoff push.
Cryer is questionable with a back strain, but the former college starhasn’t appeared at all inKerr’s lineup after they signed him in early December. Podziemski, who has been floated out in trade rumors alongside Jonathan Kuminga recently, is listed as probable against the Raptors with an abdominal bruise, buthe’s been a consistent player in the rotation, putting up a career-high 12.4 points playing in all 31 games this season.
The Warriors have a lot of issues to worry about, but for now, injuries are piling up,and could be a cause for concern as the yeargoes on.
