Marcus Rashford has been a hit during his Barcelona loan spell - and the majority of the Catalan club's fans want the club to sign the Manchester United man permanently next summer according to a vote held by a Spanish outlet.

Rashford joined the La Liga giants in the summer, with United and Barca agreeing to a deal that includes an option for Barca to sign him permanently at the end of the season. The Spanish giants will have to pay around £26million to keep Rashford in Catalonia beyond May 2026.

The 28-year-old has scored seven goals and provided 11 assists in 24 appearances under Hansi Flick. Such form has placed him in contention for an England call-up for the World Cup next summer Flick, according to reports in Spain, wants to retain Rashford's services, and the club are actively working towards a deal.

Mundo Deportivo hosted a poll which revealed 54.6 per cent of Barca fans would be in favour of keeping Rashford at the club, by activating the purchase option in his loan. A total of 6.3 per cent reckon that sporting chief Deco should hold off until the end of their season.

That leaves almost 40 per cent of fans in opposition to signing Rashford permanently.

For his part, Rashford appears content at Camp Nou. The Manchester United academy product has discussed his future ambitions with the club. He told SPORT in an interview: "I'm adapting very well to the club and the city. From the moment I arrived, I felt that everyone welcomed me very well.

"For me, the reason I'm here is to help the team win trophies. Last season was fantastic, but in life, everything happens very quickly, things change, and the goal is to repeat the successes. I'm totally focused on this.

"With the staff and the teammates, everything is fantastic, I can't complain. Of course, what I want is to stay at Barca. It's an end goal, but it's not the reason why I'm training hard and giving it my best.

"The purpose is to win. Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles."

With time off this Christmas, during La Liga's winter break, Rashford delivered presents to children at two Barcelona Foundation centres. The forward explained: “I grew up in this type of environment.

“I always knew from a young age that if I was ever in a position or situation to help [I would], especially people that I see myself in.

“It’s very important. We have to understand as much as we can from them because they are the future of everything If we can give them the best opportunities, it’s the right thing to do.”
