Real Madrid and Liverpool are among the clubs credited with an interest in Marc Guehi.

Real Madrid are not expected to pursue a move for Marc Guehi, it has been suggested.

The centre-back is set to be in high demand when his Crystal Palace contract runs out at the end of the season. Guehi was on the verge of joining Liverpool during last summer’s transfer window. A £35 million fee was agreed and the England international underwent a medical before Palace pulled the plug at the 11th hour.

Given that Guehi will be a free agent in six months’ time, a host of potential suitors have been linked. Liverpool retain an interest but clubs including Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have been credited with an interest.

Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has already confirmed that Guehi will not pen fresh terms at Selhurst Park. "I think Marc has already told us that he doesn't sign a new contract, so he will leave next year," said Glasner in October.

"The club wanted [him to stay]. They offered Marc a new contract. But he said, 'no, I want to make something different'. And that's normal. And for us, it's how we can deal with this situation? [What] is the best way to get this next step done? And that's all about how we are talking together."

Guehi is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England from 1 January. Real Madrid are set to make at least one centre-back signing, with the respective deals of David Alaba and Antoine Rudiger coming to an end.

However, ESPN Deportes suggests that Los Blancos will not try to sign Guehi despite the defender supposedly ‘liking the idea’ of potentially switching to the Spanish capital.

In addition, it’s said that Madrid will not be attempting to recruit Liverpool centre-half Ibrahima Konate. The France international sees his Anfield contract expire in the summer and he is yet to pen an extension. It is also said that Madrid will not try to sign Dayot Upamecano, whose Bayern Munich deal comes to a conclusion in June.
