Based on his experience, Steve Kerr has just one simple piece of advice for his younger self entering the NBA coaching ranks more than a decade ago.
The Golden State Warriors head coach kept it real: just go wherever Stephen Curry is.
"Just coach Steph Curry if you get a chance," Kerr hilariously said before the team's Sunday matchup against the Toronto Raptors. "Stay with that guy. I followed my own advice on that one."
In 2014, as he was still serving as an analyst for TNT, Kerr was strongly pursued by two of the Warriors and the New York Knicks to be their next head coach.
During that time, there were significant expectations that Kerr would head to New York, considering his close relationship with then-team president Phil Jackson.
But ultimately, Kerr opted to join the Warriors. He became the franchise's newest head coach following Mark Jackson, and the rest was just history.
He ushered the Warriors toward a dynastic era. Along with Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and, with the help of Kevin Durant, Golden State dominated the NBA and clinched four NBA titles since 2015.
Right now, Kerr remains determined to win another championship with Curry, which will further solidify their place among the NBA's greatest teams.
