Andy Roddick says Holger Rune can recover, points to NBA stars as examples

Andy Roddick pointed out during the podcast that the rupture of the Achilles tendon is a serious injury, which is why other topics and deeper analyses are secondary.
The most important thing is to wish him a speedy recovery and return to the tennis scene.

Comparisons with NBA stars
Achilles tendon injuries often represent a serious challenge for tennis players, and a large number of them do not manage to continue their careers or stay at the same level.
However, Andy Roddick cited the examples of Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant, athletes who suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, but achieved great success and remained dominant later in their careers.
Roddick has no doubt that Holger Rune, with his motivation, will do his best to get back on track, even though he faces a tough task.
“It’s a major traumatic lower-leg injury at 22 years old. Kobe Bryant was able to do it. Kevin Durant was able to do it. It can be done, and if he makes a full recovery, the guy’s got ten more years of runway.”
