One big reason the Mavericks aren’t ready yet to trade Anthony Davis, per report

Per NBA insider Marc Stein, new Mavs owner Patrick Dumont still desires to see the trio of Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg before making any significant trades.

Questions and uncertainty still linger around the Dallas Mavericks about whether they'll be moving on from Anthony Davis.

As all league circles continue to keep an eye on Davis' situation, one team has reportedly emerged already as a legit candidate that could pursue the big man.

The Mavericks are currently at a crossroads with Davis, and owner Patrick Dumont stands as a key factor if they choose to keep him, per Marc Stein.

"The Mavericks have yet to see Flagg, Davis and Irving play together for one second and I'm told that new Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont is certainly among those in the organization who would prefer to see how that trio looks before doing something else drastic," the NBA insider wrote.

As it is, Kyrie Irving is yet to appear for his 2025-26 season debut for the Mavericks. The star guard suffered from a torn ACL injury back in March, and it is expected that he'll return at some point in February.

Both Irving and Davis have only played for a single game thus far since the star center arrived in Dallas from the Luka Doncic blockbuster trade.

The Mavericks (12-21) are currently 12th in the West. If they fail to win more games heading to Feb. 5 trade deadline and even before Irving returns, how they'll finally assess their future with Davis would truly be anticipated.

And as Davis continues to struggle with injuries, Dallas needs to decide urgently before other teams' interest declines.
