All the latest injury news surrounding Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth ahead of their Premier League clash.
Bournemouth also had a festive fixture to forget after being thrashed 4-1 by Brentford to drop to 15th in the table. Ahead of this one, we have rounded up the latest injury news surrounding both teams.
Ben Doak - Out
Doak is out until at least February, with Iraola confirming in late November: “Ben has a hamstring injury, it's a bad one, and he will be out for some time. Today, we had a consult with a surgeon to see if it’s something that has to go through surgery, or we could go more conservative. Ben will be out for some months, which is really bad news.”
Veljko Milosavljevic - Out
Milosavljevic is out until February, also with a knee injury. Iraola said at the time of the setback: “It's not a big injury. I think he has been lucky, because the ACL, MCL, everything is intact, but he has a small injury behind the knee, affecting the capsule.”
Tyler Adams - Out
Another knee injury, Adams is out until late February. Iraola said at the time: “Tyler is injured. He has torn his MCL. So he will be out, definitely out for some time. An optimistic two months, pessimistic three, something like this.”
Matai Akimboni - Out
Akinmboni has been out for some time, and there has been no update since Iraola said in November: “The only one we could say is Matai Akinmboni, that is normally trains with us, plays with the development squad, but has had a muscle injury again and he's recovering.”
Jorrel Hato - Doubt
Maresca said before the Villa game: “Hato suffered an injury during the warm-up against Newcastle, at half-time. He is out for tomorrow’s game.” Given the quick turnaround, Hato will be a doubt for this one until confirmed otherwise.
Romeo Lavia - Out
Lavia is not expected back from his hamstring issue until early January. Maresca said earlier in the month: “It's a muscle problem. We don't know yet when he can be back. We don't know [if it will be long or short-term].”
Levi Colwill - Out
Colwill is out for the season with a serious knee injury. It was confirmed back in August: “Levi has today undergone successful surgery [for] an ACL injury. Medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action. Levi will now begin his recovery and be supported by the medical department at Cobham during his rehab phase.”
Dario Essugo - Out
Essugo is likely to return in January. Maresca has said: “Dario, he was okay, started some sessions with us, but he needs to slow down a little bit and will be out, but we hope nothing important. We hope he will be fine.”
Mykhailo Mudryk - Out (Suspended)
Mudryk is suspended. A club statement in the summer read: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA's Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.” Mudryk is not included in the final count due to the nature of his absence.
