Chelsea beating Bournemouth would be a significant victory for Moises Caicedo, here’s why

Moises Caicedo and Chelsea desperately need a win against Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Following their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa over the weekend, Enzo Maresca’s men have now dropped out of the top four.

After Bournemouth, they play Manchester City at the Etihad, so things are not going to get any easier.

City are thought to be interested in Maresca as they prepare for life after Pep Guardiola. For now, though, his focus will be on the Bournemouth game and the rest of the season.

Moises Caicedo eyeing fifth win against Bournemouth

With Chelsea playing twice a week, Maresca could opt to rest Caicedo on Tuesday. However, if he does use him, the midfielder will be looking for his fifth victory over Bournemouth.

Since arriving in England from Ecuador, Caicedo has faced the Cherries on five occasions: two times as a Brighton & Hove Albion player and three times as a Chelsea player.

The 24-year-old is yet to lose to Bournemouth and will be hoping to extend that record when Andoni Iraola’s men travel to Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo and Chelsea are not in top form right now, but the former Brighton man has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this term.

Peter Crouch recently named Caicedo in his Premier League Team of the Season so far, with the Ecuador international firmly deserving his place.

Bournemouth vs Chelsea recap

Chelsea have already played Bournemouth this month, drawing 0-0 with the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium.

It was quite an exciting game for a scoreless draw and a game that the Club World Cup holders could have won.

Alejandro Garnacho hit the post that afternoon, leaving the winger in disbelief. He came very close to scoring, but in the end, Bournemouth were able to hold on and secure a point.

Caicedo did not play because of suspension, but the good news is that Chelsea will have him available for the reverse fixture this week.
