Liverpool have been linked with a transfer for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh.

The agent of a winger linked with Liverpool has confirmed that clubs are ‘interested and monitoring’ his development.

The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh. The Gambia international played under Anfield head coach Arne Slot at Feyenoord during the 2023-24 season and has made encouraging development since moving to Brighton.

This campaign, Minteh has started every Premier League match for the Seagulls, recording one goal and four assists. Aged only 21, his best years are still very much ahead of him. And with Liverpool needing to find a long-term successor for Mo Salah, who is now aged 33, Minteh has been suggested as a potential replacement.

Meanwhile, his former Gambia boss Tom Saintfiet has tipped Minteh to complete a move to Merseyside in the future. Sainfiet said: “It’s a possibility, yes. When a club like Liverpool decide to strengthen its squad, with the financial resources at its disposal, and starts to take an interest in a player, there’s a good chance that it will be able to recruit the players it wants.

“I think Minteh, if he signs for the Reds, could be a great asset. And there, he would continue his development, playing alongside some truly great players. And let’s not forget that he knows Arne Slot very well, who was his coach at Feyenoord.”

Minteh’s agent Bakary Bojang recently gave an interview to Footy-Africa. While Bojang did not specifically mention Liverpool, he revealed that there are clubs watching his client.

“Yes, I am very optimistic about that,” he said. “I know bigger clubs are interested and monitoring his development. I just need Yankuba to keep focus and deliver; everything will follow.”

Per CIES Football Observatory, Minteh’s valuation is estimated at around £70 million. Asked if that would be a fair price tag, Bojang replied: “From my perspective, it’s always difficult to determine a player’s market value before a transfer actually happens.

“A player’s value is ultimately defined by what clubs are willing to pay. That said, it’s very positive to see that his statistical value is rising. This indicates strong numbers and consistent performances at a high level.

“Well, it’s difficult for me to say. Like I said, the value will be determined by what clubs are willing to pay. But I believe Brighton value him that high. So, if a club will buy him, they pay that amount or even more.”
