Liverpool appear to have made one very big transfer mistake this year.
The Reds are often known to be shrewd operators in the transfer market and they are very good at both buying and selling players.
Over the summer, they had a big overhaul in both departments, with many wondering how they could cope with such a big disruption.

In short, Liverpool have not coped the way they would have liked, and many of the stars they have sold in particular appear to have been a big mistake.
And now, one of those who they sold has been voted as the best signing in the whole of Europe, highlighting just how bad their decision was.
Luis Diaz named the best signing in Europe
One of the biggest surprises over the summer was Liverpool allowing Luis Diaz to depart, as although he was keen to move on, he was one of their best players last season.
The Colombian really is one-of-a-kind and his tenacity is something the Reds miss a lot, but it is something Bayern Munich have really reaped the rewards of.

In fact, he has been one of the best signings of the entirety of 2025, showing just how good he has been, with GOAL ranking him as number one.
They wrote about how Liverpool must be ‘regretting’ letting him go, with his start at Bayern compared to the likes of Florian Wirtz’s and Alexander Isak’s starts at Anfield highlighting exactly that.
Diaz has 14 goal involvements in as many league games for the German giants, who look likely to win the Bundesliga again, with Vincent Kompany’s side also strong contenders for the Champions League.
GOAL conclude by saying that if Diaz continues this run of form and Bayern win both those trophies, then he has to be in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or, and they might just be correct.

Liverpool fans often got frustrated at times with Diaz due to his lack of consistency, but he appears to have found that at Bayern.
However, one thing they are really missing is his energy from the left, with the 28-year-old always pressing from the front and causing defences big problems.
Liverpool are yet to replace that too as Cody Gakpo is a very different player, which is why they have had a big issue on this side of the pitch.
They need someone fairly similar to Diaz’s profile so that they have multiple options and are unpredictable, with Antoine Semenyo being the ideal candidate.
