Tottenham and Arsenal initiate contact to sign same €40m+ midfielder

Last week, L’Interista covered Arsenal’s interest in Club Brugge’s Aleksandar Stankovic. This came right after Tottenham were also mentioned as suitors for the midfielder in November.

The 20-year-old joined the Belgian club from Inter Milan in the summer. He has impressed quite a bit this season, playing 30 times in all competitions.

The Italian giants have a buyback clause in his contract. This has led to the Serbian’s situation getting a lot of attention, with Cristian Chivu’s side devising a grand plan.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Tottenham and Arsenal have made initial contact for the midfielder. Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have also been impressed and asked for information.

The newspaper indicates Inter’s objective is now to exercise their buyback clause, worth €23m in the summer, and sell Stankovic on for a profit.

Gazzetta provide no information on the youngster’s current valuation and that is where Inter Live fill in.

The outlet note that Tottenham and Arsenal are ready to make their moves for Stankovic once he returns to Inter.

The London clubs are prepared to offer as much as €40m, including bonuses, for him next summer. That may not be enough, with the Nerazzurri expected to demand more.

All of this seems to be a convenient strategy from Inter to earn a capital gain without truly using the player.
