During his time at the club, Fabinho was one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

Signed from Monaco for £39m, the Brazil star was a core component in one of the most successful Liverpool teams in modern times.

After five very successful years in Merseyside, Fabinho joined Al-Ittihad in 2023 as part of the Saudi Pro League transfer revolution that summer.

And it’s been Saudi where he’s been plying his trade for the past couple of seasons.

Many have wondered if he’ll make another move in the future.

After all, he’s still only 32 years old and playing for the Brazil national team.

Clearly he’s still got the quality to perform at a higher level.

And it seems as if a former club has approached the midfielder about a return.

Globo report that Fabinho has turned down an approach from Fluminense over a return to the club.

For those unaware, Fluminense were the club that Fabinho played for when he first turned professional.

He never actually made any first team appearances for the club before he move to Rio Ave in Portugal.

Ironically enough, he never made any appearances for Rio Ave either as he moved to Real Madrid, before joining Monaco.

Globo state Fabinho told Fluminense that he currently has no plans to return to Brazil.

Fluminense had wanted to see what the transfer situation of the player was, but it seems that the door was shut firmly in that respect.

As with many players in the Saudi Pro League, Fabinho is likely on very high wages and still has a contract with time left.

It will be interesting to see if Brazilian clubs return to the table when his contract nears expiry.

For now, it seems that the former Liverpool star prefers to stay in Saudi than move back.
