Only two Chelsea players have made the London Team of the Year for 2025 starting Xl, as chosen by a journalist this weekend.
We are just a few days away from entering 2026 now so we are starting to look back and reflecting on things and pondering the year we have left behind in 2025.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea looking into January deal to sign Dutch midfielder!!
It’s all be rather up and down for Chelsea in all honesty. It’s been another very inconsistent year despite managing to win the Club World Cup and the Conference League. There has still not been any real sustained success, and right now, we are watching Arsenal pull away from us at the top of the Premier League.
We really need to start mounting a serious challenge at the very top now and maintain it too. The owners have spent a ridiculous amount of money assembling the squad yet we don’t even seem anywhere near it yet.
Perhaps 2026 is our year? We can all dream, huh?

The Evening Standard journalists were asked to put together their London Team of the Year for 2025, and this is what they have come up with…
3-4-2-1: Henderson; Van de Ven, Gabriel, Guehi; Munoz, Rice, Caicedo, Cucurella; Sarr, Eze; Mateta.
Matt Verri
4-2-3-1: Raya; Timber, Guehi, Gabriel, Cucurella; Caicedo, Rice; Bowen, Eze, Sarr; Mateta.
Sam Tabuteau
4-2-3-1: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Guehi, Cucurella; Rice, Caicedo; Mbeumo, Eze, Trossard; Wissa.
Each of them have only used just two Chelsea players – Marc Cucurell and Moises Caicedo. I understand why, but that says a lot too.
