Leeds United have had a bit of resurgence in the past few weeks.

Back in the English Premier League for this campaign, Leeds were one of the favourites to go back down to the Championship.

Manager Daniel Farke has always seemingly been just a game or two away from being fired and many were thinking he was going to be gone sooner rather than later.

But December 2025 was been a fantastic month for Leeds.

It all started with an unexpected 3-1 win at home against high flying Chelsea.

Just 3 days later, Leeds United came from 3-1 down to secure a point against Liverpool in a frenetic clash at Elland Road.

And Leeds have remained unbeaten throughout the whole of December in their remaining fixtures.

Their next clash is an away trip to Liverpool on New Year’s Day.

Fans will be hoping for an equally enthralling clash as the last time the two sides met.

But both sets of supporters will be hoping that it will be their team that comes out on top.

Both sides come into the game on great runs, with Liverpool also having not lost any games in the month of December.

If Leeds United are to come away with the victory, they’ll have to do it without one of their main defenders.

Leeds United faced Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park yesterday and played out an entertaining 1-1 draw.

But Leeds suffered a setback in the lead up to Palace’s opener when defender Joe Rodon got injured.

Despite trying to play on, the defender eventually had to be taken off the pitch and substituted in the 31st minute.

It’s never a good sign when a player leaves the pitch that early in a game.

And now Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has confirmed the defenders absence from the trip to face Liverpool at Anfield.

“I fear that Joe Rodon will also probably miss this game (against Liverpool) and perhaps even the upcoming games,” Farke told BBC Sport after the game.

“Doesn’t look too good”.

Rodon has played every league game for Leeds United for consecutive years, but it appears that streak will be broken against Liverpool.

Leeds and Daniel Farke will have to find another way to keep out a Liverpool frontline that are showing signs of improvement in the past few weeks.
