With the January transfer window set to open later this week, Wilfried Nancy will be looking to strengthen his team ahead of the second half of the season.
According to new reports, a former MLS rival could be a potential target for the Frenchman, with Celtic reportedly 'eyeing up' the services of Mexico international Julian Araujo, who has played just one time this season for Andoni Iraola's side.
Per the source, the English Premier League club are likely to sanction a loan deal for the 24-year-old, who came through the ranks at LA Galaxy, before moving to Spanish giants Barcelona in 2023. [Scottish Sun]
He spent a year on their books, playing out on loan at Las Palmas, where his performances earned him a move to the Cherries the following season.
During the last campaign, he made 13 appearances for Iraola's side, though he has found minutes hard to come by this year, despite featuring in matchday squads.
Following Alistair Johnston's second hamstring injury of the season, Nancy's side are short on quality options on the right side, with their only defensive options being Anthony Ralston and Colby Donovan, with Yang Hyun-jun playing further forward as a wing-back.
Nancy would have come up against Araujo during his time at both CF Montreal and Columbus Crew, shortly before the player's departure to Barcelona.
The defender will be looking to get guaranteed game time, ahead of Mexico's World Cup campaign as joint-hosts next year, alongside the USA and Canada, respectively.
He currently has 16 caps for his national team, after pledging his footballing allegiance to Mexico over the United States. For the latter, he made one friendly appearance in 2020, before making the international switch the following year.
