Celtic are in the mix to land £9million former Barcelona defender Julian Araujo as he gets set to exit Bournemouth.
The 24-year-old appears perfect for the right-sided slot in Wilfried Nancy's 3-4-3 system and has struggled for game time with the Cherries since joining from the La Liga giants in the summer of 2024.
Celtic's need is heightened with Alistair Johnston still on the road to recovery from a serious hamstring complaint.
The Mexico international was raised in America and was an MLS standout during Nancy's time with Columbus Crew as he earned acclaim with his displays with Los Angeles Galaxy and a money-spinning move to Barcelona.
Now the Scottish Sun insist Celtic are ready to strike if Bournemouth green light a January loan exit for the player who has been capped 16 times for his country
Meanwhile, Nancy has moved to a three man defence since he took over.

He is looking to bring in at least one defender when the January transfer window opens.
Nancy is also looking to add to his front areas and is keen on a move to team up with his former Columbus Crew star Diego Rossi again.
Hapoel Petah Tikva’s Ivory Coast winger Jocelin Ta Bi is another option although Genk are also keen.
Celtic have also been linked with a move for striker Ibrahim Diabate.
Swedish sources have played that interest down and his club, GAIS, have had no contact from Celtic, directly or indirectly.
