Aston Villa boss Unai Emery was asked for a team news update during his press conference ahead of his side's trip to Arsenal.

Both left-sided centre-backs Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings have been nursing injuries, with Victor Lindelof impressing in their absence.

Mings has been unavailable since Villa’s last defeat - away at Liverpool at the start of November - after picking up a hamstring injury.

Torres, meanwhile, has not featured since being withdrawn in the second half against Arsenal and has missed the last four matches against Basel, West Ham, Manchester United and Chelsea.

"Knowing how we are, we are going to train now, two days after playing Chelsea," Emery said when asked for an update on his team.

"I want to see how the players are for tomorrow. Of course, the players who are injured are continuing their process and the players who are suspended will not play."

Villa will also be without Boubacar Kamara and Matty Cash due to suspension after both collected their fifth bookings of the campaign in the 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.

“There are rules, and if you are getting five yellow cards you are suspended for one match. It’s another process we have in the matches we are playing. We have Kamara and Cash out tomorrow for being suspended.

“We will need other players. Kamara is important, yes; Cash is important, yes; Tyrone Mings is important, yes. When he’s not available, Emi Martínez is important, and Marco Bizot. Tomorrow is going to be important with other players.”

Ross Barkley is also injured, as he continues to recover from a knee problem, while Evann Guessand is unavailable as he is representing Ivory Coast at AFCON in Morocco.
