Cherries' historic FA Cup tie vs WSL Man City to be held at AFC Totton

Tier three AFC Bournemouth reached the fourth round of the competition for the first time in their history with an emphatic 5-0 win over Fulham earlier in December.

WSL City enter the historic cup at this stage, and Helen Bleazard's Bournemouth side were drawn at home against the top flight side on December 15.

There were hopes from many to stage the tie at the Vitality Stadium, but the Cherries have now confirmed that the game will be hosted at AFC Totton’s Snows Stadium, which is also used by south coast neighbours Southampton for their women’s team and U23s.

The club said: "The option of Vitality Stadium was explored but a decision has been taken in order to protect and maintain the pitch during a challenging time of year.

"With Ringwood Town unable to meet the required criteria set out by the FA for a fourth round tie, the Snows Stadium was identified as a suitable option, with the ground having also hosted the club’s development squad this season."

The match will take place on Sunday, January 18, with a 1pm kick off.
