Liverpool could be active again in this January transfer window despite spending over £400 last summer, especially after a challenging season and Mohamed Salah putting his future in focus. The Reds may look to sign a centre-back, winger, and central midfielder. They remain interested in Marc Guehi, who underwent a medical last summer, and are also monitoring Antoine Semenyo’s situation.

Arne Slot says the issue with Salah is resolved after reintegrating him into the squad, but the forward’s recent comments and Saudi Arabia interest mean questions will continue. Liverpool had been ready to sign Guehi for £35m on Deadline Day, but Palace withdrew, and the club are cautious about overpaying for a player who could soon be a free agent. Guehi’s potential move is also linked to Ibrahima Konate, whose contract expires this summer. Liverpool aim to keep Konate under their current wage structure despite interest from Real Madrid.

Andy Robertson is another player with a contract running until the end of the season, but the 31-year-old says he is relaxed about the situation. The left-back stayed at Anfield in the summer despite interest from Atletico Madrid and prefers to handle his future privately.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are now willing to wait until the summer to pursue Marc Guehi on a free transfer — a move that is still very much possible. The Palace defender has also attracted interest from Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and other clubs across Europe. By moving on a free transfer, Guehi could command a more lucrative financial package, as the buying club would have more funds available to spend on his wages.

Interestingly, Maxence Lacroix, Guehi’s defensive colleague at Crystal Palace, has previously been discussed by Liverpool as a potential target. The Reds have also monitored other options, including Joel Ordonez at Club Brugge, particularly before signing Giovanni Leoni, while Spanish reports have linked Oscar Mingueza of Celta Vigo with a move. Brentford’s Nathan Collins has also been mentioned as a possible defensive reinforcement for the Merseyside club.
