Liverpool have a big conundrum ahead of the January transfer window as Alexander Isak was ruled out for months after breaking his leg in the match against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
The Reds' Premier League title defence has been far from straight forward, even without big blows like the injury suffered by their club-record signing.
Liverpool lie 10 points behind leaders Arsenal as we approach the halfway point of the season this week, and even though Isak wasn't in great form - his goal against Spurs in the same game was his first in the Premier League this season - it does leave Slot with fewer options to pick from at the top of his attack.
The silving lining for Arne Slot has been the form of Hugo Ekitike, who has outperformed expectations and is Liverpool's signing of the summer despite the huge amounts spent on Isak and Florian Wirtz.
Reports from Spain suggest that Slot and Richard Hughes have made a move to fill the gap in their attack with a Serie A centre-forward.
Liverpool Make Offer to Sign Dusan Vlahovic

According to Fichajes, Liverpool have tabled an offer worth around £17m for the Serbia international as they look to land a replacement for Isak over the next months, and provide competition and cover for the in-form Ekitike.
The 25-year-old is in an interesting position at Juventus with his contract due to expire at the end of the season, and he has no intention of staying in Turin beyond next summer under the current conditions the Old Lady are offering him.
That means Juve will have to consider cashing in on him next month to avoid losing the striker for nothing in the summer, although the Merseyside club's offer is seen as being below the Serbian's market value despite his contract situation.
Whatever happens next, Vlahovic presents a rare mid-season transfer market opportunity for clubs like Liverpool.

The report adds that Vlahovic has been 'seduced' by the opportunity to play in the Premier League, as he looks to test himself in a different league at a top level.
While he would be competing with the impressive Ekitike for a spot in Slot's starting XI, Vlahovic is impressed with the leading role Liverpool are ready to provide.
The Reds are also said to be willing to meet his wage demands, with one source saying he currently earns £470,000-a-week - including bonuses - at the Allianz Stadium.
Ideal Isak Replacement

While Ekitike has been a revelation at Anfield, the Frenchman needs competition for a busy schedule over the next few months and there are doubts whether the likes of Federico Chiesa and Cody Gakpo - even though they could play in the centre-forward role - are able to step up consistently there.
Vlahovic offers that physique with his strong, 6 ft 3 frame and he also has a lot of experience appearing in title races and in the Champions League - two things Liverpool require in the next months.
Liverpool chiefs are said to be confident that the Anfield environment will bring out the best in the Serbian, who isn't enjoying his best goalscoring season.
Still, the 25-year-old has scored six goals in 17 appearances, even though he has often had to make his impact from the substitutes' bench as doubts continue over his long-term future in Turin.
Nevertheless, his overall record of 90 goals in 215 Serie A matches and nine in 20 Champions League appearances shows the level the striker is capable of operating at.
When you couple Vlahovic's quality and experience and his potential low price tag compared to others on the market mid-season, a move to Anfield could be something of a no-brainer for Liverpool deal-makers in the next weeks.
