Chelsea are in a bit of a rut right now, and things are gloomy at Stamford Bridge.
If you were hoping that a bit of January spending would fix the team (or at least make people feel a bit better about our prospects, think again. Daily Mail journalist Kieran Gill has made it very clear that’s not happening, according to what he hears.
Chelsea won’t spend despite having the funds

“I’m told this isn’t a window in which Chelsea’s hierarchy are keen on going big, and I haven’t heard that stance has changed amid their disappointing run of one win in six in the Premier League.”
He adds that the interest in Antoine Semenyo which was briefly a thing last week “told us there is money to spend in January if need be.”
It sounds like they think we don’t need to spend the money – we’d disagree. Although spending is often counterproductive, the fact that Chelsea STILL need a top goalkeeper, a top central defender, a competent backup left back, a trusted body in midfield, a winger who can score AND a number nine means that there are numerous ways you could improve this group, even in January.
Just don’t hold your breath. The aim is not to spend money and win trophies, it’s to sell players for a profit and qualify for the Champions League.
