In a bitter blow, Barcelona youngster Hector Fort, currently on loan at Elche CF, has suffered a shoulder dislocation and has undergone surgery, the club have confirmed.
“Elche CF player Hector Fort underwent surgery on Monday by FC Barcelona’s medical staff following the injury he suffered in the match against Rayo Vallecano,” the statement issued by Elche read.
“Medical tests have confirmed an anterior dislocation of the left shoulder. The recovery time will depend on his progress. Get well soon, Hector!”

Barcelona had been closely monitoring Fort’s development in the team coached by Eder Sarabia and had been impressed with how things were progressing.
He had begun to gain prominence in a side that exploited and enhanced his attacking qualities. Up to this point, the loan spell had been meeting the expectations held at Barcelona.
But the injury has changed things for the youngster, with the statement not providing any inkling about when the young right-back will return.
Fort has made 12 appearances so far for Elche, scoring and assisting two goals apiece. He sustained his injury soon after scoring his goal in the La Liga game vs Rayo Vallecano earlier this month.
