Arsenal Plot January Transfer Move For Ex-Inter Milan Starlet To Replace Christian Norgaard

Arsenal are reportedly plotting a January move to sign a midfielder to replace Christian Norgaard.

The Gunners looked as though they wouldn’t do much in the January transfer window, but seeing as they have suffered so many injuries in recent weeks, Mikel Arteta has said that he will be looking to add more depth in January.

Arteta told the media on Tuesday: “We have to be actively looking, and then can we do it or not? That’s a different story, but our job is to be always very prepared because something can happen.”

His recent hints suggest that Arsenal could make a couple of transfer moves in January to add more depth and also add for the future. Christian Norgaard was signed in the summer as a depth option, but he isn’t expected to stay at Arsenal for the long-term, and reports are suggesting that the Gunners are already considering a replacement for Norgaard.

Arsenal plotting move for ex-Inter Milan star Stankovic

According to TeamTalk, Arsenal are considering moving on from Norgaard after he has made just two Premier League appearances since joining from Brentford in the summer. The Danish international is seen as a stop gap, and so the Gunners could sign a younger defensive midfielder to replace Norgaard.

The same report said that Arsenal are interested in former Inter Milan midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic, who is now playing for Belgian side Club Brugge.

Stankovic, 20, is a physical defensive midfielder, who can also play as a centre-back or full-back, which is exactly what the Gunners need at the moment based on the fact that recently, Arteta was forced to play Declan Rice at full-back.

The Serbia international has a current market value of around £13m, but Brugge would likely demand a lot more for him due to the fact they signed him in the summer, and due to his sky-high potential. Arsenal may have to fish out at least £20m for the 20-year-old if they are to move for him in January.
