Liverpool will aim to extend their winning streak to five matches across all competitions when they welcome Leeds United to Anfield on Thursday. Arne Slot’s side have won their last three Premier League fixtures, most recently a 2-1 victory over Wolves on Saturday. Leeds, however, arrive in good form themselves, remaining unbeaten in their last five league games.

Leeds boast an in-form striker in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored in the 3-3 thriller when these two sides met earlier this month. The Reds will welcome back Dominik Szoboszlai for the clash, after the Hungarian missed the Wolves game due to suspension. However, several key players remain sidelined. Alexander Isak is set to be out for several months with a broken leg, while Giovanni Leoni will miss the remainder of the season with an ACL injury.

Mohamed Salah is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, and Wataru Endo is struggling with an ankle problem. On a brighter note, Cody Gakpo and Conor Bradley returned from injury against Wolves and could feature against Leeds. Joe Gomez is also edging closer to a return; Slot noted ahead of the Wolves game that Gomez was not yet ready but was making good progress and was seen training in the gym with teammates.

Leeds face injury issues ahead of the clash with Liverpool. Joe Rodon, who injured his ankle in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland, is expected back by mid-January. Sean Longstaff is out with a calf injury, also targeting a mid-January return, while Daniel James is sidelined with a thigh injury and is expected back in late January. Rodon could see his two-year streak of consecutive league appearances for Leeds ended. The Welsh defender is now a doubt for Thursday’s trip to Anfield.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke told BBC Sport: “I fear that Joe Rodon will also probably miss this game (against Liverpool) and perhaps even the upcoming games. Doesn’t look too good.” Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Farke added: “Joe is a warrior, if he was not he would not be able to be there for 100 games in a row for Leeds United and even with a little knock he always wants to be there. I like this mentality. I also cross my fingers that the injury is not too bad, it does not look great, he is an important player for us and hopefully he can be back pretty soon.”
