Antoine Semenyo looks set to join Manchester City in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Pep Guardiola’s side are leading the race after Chelsea cooled their interest in the Bournemouth winger. The 25-year-old has a £65million release clause in his contract that becomes active next month.
Semenyo has scored 19 league goals across two full seasons since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City for £10million in 2023. He is one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League.
City boss Pep Guardiola praised Semenyo as an “extraordinary player” after his standout performances over the past two seasons. “Not [just] this season, the last season and the previous, for the way Bournemouth play it suits perfectly for him. He’s an extraordinary player,” said Guardiola ahead of City facing Bournemouth this season.
Liverpool are among five clubs to have made enquiries about Semenyo, alongside City, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea. The recent injury to Alexander Isak could increase Liverpool’s interest, but their large summer recruitment has given manager Arne Slot plenty of attacking options to choose from, making the decision more complex.
Semenyo is keen to resolve his future quickly, as his release clause expires on January 10. Any interested club will need to act fast, with the player eager to avoid a prolonged transfer saga.
