Addressing the media after the Nuggets' 147-123 loss against the Miami Heat, Adelman told reporters that they'll have more updates about Jokic's injury by Tuesday after the reported upcoming examination.

"All I know is it’s a left-knee injury. He has to go through the whole process of what it is," Adelman said, via Nuggets reporter Vinny Benedetto. "Watching it at halftime, it looked like his feet got tangled up with a teammate. Obviously, immediately he knew something was wrong. This is part of the NBA. Anybody that gets hurt in this game, it’s kind of gut-wrenching, especially somebody as special as he is.

"We’ll find out more tomorrow. We’ll move on as a team."

Jokic didn't play the second half for the Nuggets after sustaining a left knee injury. He was initially listed as questionable to return, but the team eventually ruled him out for the rest of the game against the Heat.

The three-time MVP left the floor limping after teammate Spencer Jones accidentally stepped on his left foot in the final seconds of the second quarter. Jokic went on to grab his knee, mincing in pain.

He ended the night with 21 points, eight assists and five boards across 19 minutes, as the Nuggets severely suffered from his absence for their worst loss of the season.

Along with Jamal Murray, Jokic resiliently carried the Nuggets despite critical injuries across the group. The Serbian superstar is putting up another historic campaign, averaging 29.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 11.1 assists per game.

"Obviously, right now, I’m more concerned just about him as a person," Adelman added about Jokic. "The disappointment of going through something like that, it’s unfortunate, hoping for the best — just like we did for Cam [Johnson] and the other starters that we’ve lost. You just have to stay with it as a team and as a group. Honestly, you have to stay with it as a team and as a group, because that’s how you best support your teammates that are out by honoring them when you play.

"We’ll move on from there. Like I said, it’s part of the NBA. It sucks, but hoping for the best tomorrow."
