According to reports in Spain, former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold could already be set for a move back to the Premier League, having struggled to make a strong start to his Real Madrid career. The Englishman left Anfield last summer on a free, but injuries and other inconsistencies have not seen him settle well in Spain.
The 27-year-old established himself as one of the best players on the planet during his time with his boyhood club, winning two Premier League titles and the Champions League, among other major honours. As such, Los Blancos were put on high alert when he refused to sign a new contract with the Reds.
A deal was made permanent in the summer, with Madrid even paying an extra €10m to get him in the door early enough to play in the Club World Cup. To date, though, Alexander-Arnold has not been at his best in Spain, and rumours have already emerged about a summer exit with three English teams said to be interested.
£34m Touted As Fee For Alexander-Arnold

As per reports in Spain, via Defensa Central, there is talk that the Real Madrid man could now leave. They note that Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle are among the teams keeping an eye on the situation.
A surprisingly low fee of €40 (£34m) has even been touted as a potential fee, which all three clubs would supposedly be more than willing to pay. This, of course, would represent a tidy profit for Los Blancos, having signed him for just £8.7m in the summer. Of course, his €320,577 (£280,000) weekly wages would also have to be a financial consideration.
It is important to note, however, that the report claims that Real Madrid are not likely to give up on the player just yet, and probably wouldn't be open to selling him for such a low fee. They are said to be confident that they will see an improvement in his form across the second half of the season.
To date, he has played just eight La Liga games, and three in the Champions League, with a hamstring injury and a separate muscle tear (thigh) keeping him regularly sidelined. While goal contributions came easily for him at Liverpool, the right-back is yet to score in Spain and has just one assist.
Premier League Teams Linked With Trent

Alexander-Arnold's record in England's top flight – two titles, in 259 games, with 18 goals and 67 assists in the league – would make him an extremely attractive proposition for many of the top clubs. That said, after the strong reaction to his Liverpool exit, it remains how he would feel about then playing for a rival team.
Joining Man United would spark the biggest controversy, although his quality would certainly be a major boost for Ruben Amorim to have as he looks to get the Red Devils performing at the highest level again. Manchester City certainly wouldn't have to worry about the financials of the deal, and with Matheus Nunes currently the starting right-back, that's a position Pep Guardiola could want to upgrade.
Kieran Trippier arrived from Spain to make a huge impact at Newcastle, but he's now 35 and out of contract in the summer. With the club's ambitious owners at the helm, a move for Alexander-Arnold in the summer would certainly be a big statement of intent.
