Liverpool‘clear way’ for signing after Chelsea drop out – €40m+ needed in January

Club Brugge’s Joel Ordóñez has ended up on the transfer agenda at Liverpool and Chelsea.

On December 3rd, Bolavip reported the Reds have scouted the centre-back this season. It was also reported Chelsea have re-entered the race and are set to battle with Liverpool for Ordóñez.

The 21-year-old has already expressed his desire to make a switch to the Premier League.

Liverpool and Chelsea are his English suitors and a fresh report from Bolavip provides the latest.

Arne Slot’s side want to Ecuador international to strengthen their defence. However, he’s said to have prioritised the Blues and was even excited about the possibility of joining them.

However, Chelsea have withdrawn and it isn’t explained why they have dropped out of the signing race. Either way, this ‘cleared the way’ for Liverpool to secure Ordóñez’s services.

According to Bolavip, the Merseyside club could face competition from Inter Milan. They are monitoring the Club Brugge star and could make advances to try and sign him next month.

The interested parties would have to offer over €40m to take him away from Club Brugge. If Liverpool, Inter and other clubs were to make advances, Ordóñez would have to make a final decision on his future.
